Visa Brazil’s new campaign to promote the upcoming FIFA World Cup, #welcometobrazil, depicts cast members from The Simpsons and Star Wars in full soccer team line-ups.
In addition to throwing a hashtag into the mix, the use of these two popular franchises seems to be an attempt at targeting a younger demographic. It’s different, that’s for sure.
What do Star Wars and The Simpsons have in common with soccer, you ask? Well, nothing. Is it just a simple way of connecting with Brazil’s younger audience? A cop-out, if you will? Maybe…I just don’t understand advertising.
Whatever it is, they had me at Moe. My only concern is, who’s watching the Kwik-E-Mart?
